Switch off an add-on that breaks the checkout

Paid versionModules

Customers can order again within minutes, while the faulty add-on waits switched off with all its settings intact.

What it replaces: 1-2 h of emergency diagnosis

What you write to Claude

„checkout is broken since this morning. find which module is causing it and switch it off, don't uninstall. then check checkout works”

The problem

Since this morning customers can't finish their orders. The error log mentions a gift-wrap add-on we installed last week.

What Claude does

  1. Claude reads the error messages and finds the add-on behind them.
  2. It shows what switching it off would affect, with a warning for payment and delivery add-ons.
  3. After your yes it switches the add-on off, keeping its data and settings.
  4. It checks the checkout pages again and tells you whether the errors stopped.

What you get

The checkout works again, and you have the error and the add-on's name to send to its author. Switching it back on is one request.

You stay in control

You see every change before it is saved and nothing happens without your yes. Work on add-ons uses a separate, extra-protected connection, usually set up by whoever looks after your shop, and add-on files are backed up before they change.

Step by step

  1. Finds the fatal error or exception with ps_get_logs and matches it to a module with ps_list_modules (with the hook from the stack trace).
  2. Calls ps_toggle_module (active=false); the preview warns for payment and shipping modules. Execution usually takes 15-40 s while PrestaShop rebuilds its cache.
  3. After approval switches the module off; its data and configuration stay; undo with ps_revert_change.
  4. Re-checks with ps_get_logs and ps_inspect_page on the cart and order pages.

Safety

Modules (block 4) work only through the service connector (separate token accepted only from allowlisted IP addresses) and are off after installation; the owner gets an e-mail when the block is switched on. Every write shows a preview, runs only after your approval (one-time token) and is logged in the change history. Switching off is the safe alternative to uninstalling: the module's data stays. Uninstalling is a separate, irreversible tool.
