Restyle the featured products block on the homepage

Paid versionAppearance & deployments

Your homepage product showcase looks the way you want, and add-on updates don't reset it.

What it replaces: 2-4 h of a web developer's work

What you write to Claude

„Override ps_featuredproducts' template: wrap the grid in a 4-column container, show the 'new' flag from product.flags, keep the miniature partial from the theme. Add CSS to custom.css.”

The problem

The homepage featured products block shows 8 tiny cards with no badge. We want 4 bigger cards with a 'new' label.

What Claude does

  1. Claude reads how product cards look in your theme.
  2. It copies the add-on's layout into your theme and changes it.
  3. It adds the styling and shows each change.
  4. After your yes it saves with backups and checks the homepage.

What you get

The homepage block shows the new layout. The number of products shown is an add-on setting, which can be changed in a separate step.

You stay in control

You see every change before it is saved, nothing happens without your yes, and you can undo it later. Changes to the shop's look use a separate, extra-protected connection, usually set up by whoever looks after your shop. Every file is backed up before it changes.

Step by step

  1. Reads the theme's product miniature and any existing override with ps_list_theme_files and ps_read_theme_file.
  2. Creates the theme override of the ps_featuredproducts template with ps_override_module_template. Parameters: action copy, module ps_featuredproducts, template from action list.
  3. Edits the override and adds the CSS in custom.css with ps_write_theme_file.
  4. Shows each file change as a diff preview; saves after your approval with backups.
  5. Clears the cache and checks the homepage with ps_inspect_page.

Safety

Block 3 works only through the service connector: a separate token accepted only from allowlisted IP addresses, off after installation. Claude changes the module's look through a template override in your theme (ps_override_module_template), so a module update leaves it alone. The override is a theme file, backed up before every write and restorable with ps_restore_file_backup. If the change could only be made inside the module itself, Claude says so: direct edits of module files are possible in Modules (block 4, ps_module_file, with backup), but a module update erases them.
