Set a time-limited sale on a category

Paid versionCommerceReady job: Set up a promotion

Your weekend sale starts and ends by itself, so you don't have to remember to switch it off.

What it replaces: 1 h of setting up discounts product by product

What you write to Claude

„15% off everything in Garden furniture from 2026-10-30 00:00 to 2026-11-02 23:59. no stacking with other promos”

The problem

I want 15% off all garden furniture for the long weekend, starting Friday and ending Monday night, without remembering to switch it off.

What Claude does

  1. Claude finds the category and counts the products in it.
  2. It checks for other promotions on them.
  3. It prepares one discount for the whole category with start and end dates and shows sample prices.
  4. After your yes it saves; you can end the sale early with one request.

What you get

The sale runs only in the chosen dates and switches off by itself.

You stay in control

You see every change before it is saved, nothing happens without your yes, and you can undo it later. Prices, discounts and stock stay switched off until you turn them on, and unusually large changes need an extra confirmation.

Step by step

  1. Finds the category with ps_get_category_tree.
  2. Checks existing promotions with ps_manage_catalog_price_rules and ps_manage_specific_prices (action list) and flags overlaps (discounts don't stack; PrestaShop applies one).
  3. Calls ps_manage_catalog_price_rules (action add: category_ids with include_subcategories, 15%, date_from/time_from Friday 00:00 to date_to/time_to Monday 23:59); the preview shows the product count and sample prices before and after.
  4. After your approval saves one catalog price rule; products added to the category later get it too.
  5. Tells you how to end the sale early: action delete, or ps_revert_change.

Safety

Commerce (block 2) runs on the daily connector, is off after installation and has its own switch. Claude acts as the connector's PrestaShop employee, so the action must also be allowed in that employee's profile. Every write shows a preview, runs only after your approval (single-use token valid 30 minutes, blocked if the data changed in the back office in the meantime), is logged in the change history and can be undone with ps_revert_change. A discount above 50% gives a warning, above 90% needs your explicit allow (allow_big_change), and a promotion without an end date gets a warning.
