Install TellMyShop

You install TellMyShop like any other PrestaShop module. It takes about 15 minutes. At the end you have a connector address to paste into Claude.

After installation Claude can only read your shop. It can't change anything until you say so. That's on purpose: you look around first, then switch on changes.

What you need

  • PrestaShop 8.1 or newer, including 9. Version 8.0 is not supported.
  • PHP 8.1 or newer. If you don't know your PHP version, ask your hosting company.
  • A shop address that starts with https://.
  • A Claude account. A free one is enough.
  • Access to your shop's back office with the right to install modules.

You don't need a PrestaShop Account.

Step 1: Upload the module

  1. Download the ZIP file from your account: Account > Downloads.
  2. In the back office open Modules > Module Manager.
  3. Click Upload a module and drop the ZIP file.
  4. When you see the message that the module is installed, click Configure.

To get back to the module settings later, go the same way: Modules > Module Manager, find "TellMyShop" in the list and click Configure.

If the upload fails, see the FAQ.

Step 2: Create a separate employee for Claude

Claude works in your shop as its own employee, with its own permissions. That way the shop's log shows exactly what Claude did, and Claude can't do more than you allow.

  1. Open Advanced Parameters > Team > Profiles and add a profile called "Claude".

  2. Open Advanced Parameters > Team > Permissions, choose "Claude" and tick what Claude may view and edit, for example Catalog and Pages.

  3. Open Advanced Parameters > Team > Employees and add an employee, for example "Claude MCP", with the "Claude" profile.

  4. In the TellMyShop settings, choose this employee as the connector employee.

If a permission is missing, Claude tells you in the first conversation.

Step 3: Create your connector address

  1. In the TellMyShop settings click Generate token for the daily connector.
  2. Copy the connector address that appears. It looks like https://yourshop.com/module/tellmyshop/mcp?token=….
  3. Keep it somewhere safe, like a password. It is shown only once. If you lose it, generate a new one.
  4. Click Test connection to check that the shop answers.

Next: paste it into Claude. See Connect to Claude.

Step 4 (optional): A second connector for changes to the look of your shop

Changes to theme files are risky, so they work only through a separate service connector. It works only from approved internet addresses (IP addresses). You need it only if you, or your developer, want Claude to change the look of your shop.

  1. Generate a token for the service connector.
  2. Check the list of allowed IP addresses. By default it contains Anthropic's address range, which Claude.ai connects from.
  3. Switch on the Look and deployments block. It is off after installation, like the Modules and Service mode blocks, which also work only through the service connector; Service mode is switched on for 1, 4, 8 or 24 hours.
  4. Add the service connector in Claude as a second, separate connector.

Skip this step if you only work on products, texts and prices.

Step 5: Start in read-only mode, then switch on changes

Right after installation the module is in read-only mode. Claude can read and report, but it can't save anything. Use this to get to know it.

Try, for example:

Check my shop for SEO problems and tell me the five most urgent fixes.

When you are ready for Claude to make changes:

  1. In the TellMyShop settings turn Read-only mode off.
  2. Choose which areas Claude may change. Content and SEO is on. Prices, promotions and stock (the Commerce block) are off until you turn them on. See What Claude can do for you.

Even with read-only mode off, Claude shows you a preview of every change and saves only after you approve it.

Activate your licence

  1. Copy your licence key from the purchase email or Account > Licences.
  2. Paste it in the TellMyShop settings and click Activate.

The licence screen arrives with module version 0.4.0. Without a valid licence the module works in read-only mode. The free Audit edition is read-only mode for good. Details: Licences.

Update or remove the module

  • Update: upload the new ZIP in Module Manager, the same way as the first time.
  • Remove: in Module Manager open the menu next to the module's Configure button and choose Uninstall.
