When something doesn't work
The connection check shows a red point
Under each red point in TellMyShop > Start there's a hint. The most common ones:
- Claude requires HTTPS. Your site must run on
https://. See The panel says "the connector requires HTTPS" for what to do. - The connector address was not found. Open Settings > Permalinks and click Save Changes without changing anything. If that doesn't help, a plugin may be switching off the WordPress REST API.
- Access denied. A security plugin may be blocking connections from visitors who aren't logged in. In that plugin's settings, allow addresses starting with
/wp-json/tellmyshop/. - The connector address redirects. The site address in Settings > General must be the real one: with
https, and with or withoutwww, exactly as your site opens. - The site could not connect to itself. On some hosts this one test fails even though Claude connects without trouble. Check the connection in Claude.
Claude can't connect to your site, though the check is green
- Make sure Claude has the current address. After Generate a new address the old one stops working.
- If your site sits behind a firewall (e.g. Cloudflare), ask your host or the person who looks after your site to let connections from Anthropic's addresses through. You'll find the list in TellMyShop > Settings, in the Access by IP address section.
The panel says "the connector requires HTTPS"
In TellMyShop > Start, in the Connector status card, the HTTPS row shows "no – the connector requires HTTPS". The connection check then shows "Claude requires HTTPS", and Tools > Site Health reports "The TellMyShop connector works without HTTPS".
The connector address works like a password, so it may only travel over an encrypted connection. Without HTTPS, Claude can't connect to your site.
- Enable SSL on your hosting. Many hosts offer a free certificate (e.g. Let's Encrypt). If you're not sure where to do it, ask your host.
- In Settings > General, change WordPress Address (URL) and Site Address (URL) so they start with
https://. - Go back to TellMyShop > Start and click Check the connection. The HTTPS row should now show "yes".
Claude says it can't change anything
- Using the Audit? That's normal: the Audit only reads. Instead of a change, Claude gives you a "now → after" table: what's on your site now and what it should be after the fix. You can make those fixes yourself in your dashboard, or with the full version, where Claude saves them after your "yes". See Audit and licence.
- Using the full version? Open TellMyShop > Scope of work. If Working mode is set to Read only, choose Read and changes and click Save the scope of work.
- The full version without a key, or with an expired licence, works like the Audit. Paste your key into the Licence card: Licence key.
- Changed the scope of work but Claude still doesn't see it? Start a new chat or refresh the connector in Claude.
The licence won't activate
- Invalid licence key. Copy the key again, all of it, including
TMS-. - All production domains of this licence are in use. Release a domain in your TellMyShop account or buy another licence.
- The site domain does not match the licence domain. This happens after moving a site. Activate the key again on this domain.
- No connection to the licence server. Your site works normally for 14 days, then switches to read-only. If it lasts longer than a day, write to us.
Claude can't see products or orders
Products need WooCommerce and the WooCommerce catalogue group switched on in Scope of work. Orders and customers are hidden by default. You can change this in Customer data (GDPR).
The meta description was saved, but I can't see it on my site
Check that your SEO plugin is active. If your site uses a cache, clear it or wait a few minutes.
